Hello Friend. Welcome to our little space on the internet…
We hope you feel welcome here. We hope you find something of value. We hope our community is a place where you feel enriched and inspired to live a more clean, conscious, and sustainable life.
My Journey
Angela & James was born from a constant pull on my heart that I could do something bigger with my life, that I had a stronger calling, that I could make a greater difference with the time I had on this earth.
I’ve been lucky enough to spend the majority of my working career employed in the artistic field of music. This was my first love, my first passion, the first thing that stole my heart enough that I decided, at the age of fifteen, to make it my life’s work. I had so many good years working in education, therapy, religious, and studio settings. But as the years went on, my interests grew, my passions ebbed and flowed. I met new people. I grew older and the wealth of my experiences began to change me.
Like many of us, I got married, raised a daughter, and bought a home. As family life becomes this, our financial responsibilities grow and we start to view life through a more practical lens. I went back to school for nursing and spent some time in the medical field. I loved learning about the human body, it was a completely different world than anything I had been educated on before. But, as time went on, I realized what I was really passionate about was health, not sickness, and so, I just felt out of place, like, this isn’t exactly what I’m supposed to be doing with my life. I wasn’t sure what that meant or what I was supposed to do with that realization, it was just there and I sat with it for awhile.
I just kept having this feeling that I was being called to a non-traditional work setting, something I had to create, something that was my very own. I knew what I was passionate about, I think about it every day. It’s the very things that you would continue doing whether you were paid or not. The clues lie in what books you read, the podcasts playing on repeat through your headphones, the YouTube creators you actually hit the subscribe button for, the intimate conversations you have over a matcha and croissant at your local coffee shop. It tells you something, it tells you what resonates with your soul…
Catalyst for Change
What’s on my playlist? Nature, dogs, wellness, nutrition, morning routines, sustainable fashion brands, make-up/skincare/hair videos (for sure)…
I don’t really think I’m that special or different from anyone else. But, the thing that is constantly pressed on my heart, is not just taking good care of myself but inspiring others to do the same. We get so busy in our every day lives that we forget how simple choices can make a huge impact. How reaching for one shampoo over another can be the difference between an animal being used for testing, the landfill being littered with yet another plastic bottle, or a human being being paid a wage that can hardly feed their family. Don’t hear me wrong, I’m just as guilty as the next guy. But, my hope, is that this blog will educate, enrich, and empower myself and you to be a catalyst for change. It’s not about perfection. It’s about small, every day choices that have the ability to move mountains…
What to Expect
So, what can you expect here? A lifestyle blog, in a way, yes…
You’ll see healthy recipes, make-up/skincare/hair recommendations, fashion, and random stuff about my life that I hope you find helpful. But, what is different here, is that everything we create is conscious and intentional. We hope to guide you to your healthiest self. We hope to help you make sustainable fashion choices. We hope to guide you toward brands that are making ethical choices. We hope to help you become a better version of yourself, and, in turn, make our world a better place to live…
You’ll hear mostly from me. Jim (James) doesn’t get quite as excited about getting in front of the camera and discussing what sustainable underwear brand is best, lol. But, he’s my rock. He is always helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. He’s making dinner or mowing the lawn or picking our daughter up from college. He is the extra touch of magic in every recipe. He’s the one calming me down when I want to delete the entire website and throw it in the trash. He’s my calm vessel of hope. And, mostly importantly, this man loves me with all his heart. To not credit him on the story of my own journey feels like a piece of me is missing.
Thank you for taking time to visit us today…
We hope you feel at home and return often.
XO
Angela (& James)
